What are vulcanization activators?

Vulcanization activators are important rubber processing additives that not only activate cure but also improve the efficiency of sulfur based cure systems. In fact, almost all organic accelerators require the addition of an organic activator to achieve the desired cure and end-use properties.
Vulcanisztion activators are products which have a strong activation effect on the cross linking reactions of diene rubbers. The vulcanization speed is enhanced, and the cross-link density and reversion resistance are increased, particularly when used in high doses. In most cases the dynamic properties of the vulcanized products are clearly improved.

Uses of vulcanization activators

The fundamental role of vulcanization activators does not lie in their influence on the kinetics of the addition of sulfur to rubber, but rather in their influence on the nature of the vulcanization structures formed and on changes in them in the course of vulcanization.
