What are devulcanizing and descorching?

Devulcanizing
Devulcanization is the process of treating vulcanized rubber with processes designed to restore the properties that were present prior to vulcanization.

Descorching
Scorch has a quite specific meaning in rubber technology where it is the term for premature vulcanization of the mix before the final shaping can be accomplished. Scorch inhibits flow and results in scrap. Since the raw polymers are highly viscous, the work required for mixing generates substantial heat. Thus the act of mixing in the curatives can trigger the vulcanization itself.
Deschorching is removal of scorched rubber.

Uses of devulcanizing and descorching chemicals

Devulcanization Chemicals
By devulcanization process the cross-links in the structure of rubber are broken and devulcanized rubber can be revulcanized into a raw material for rubber industry, which is a highly valued form of waste rubber. This is achieved with the help of devulcanizing chemicals.

Descorching Chemicals
Descorching chemicals helps in removal of scorched rubber.
